Conservation

Alan Clarke & Associates have gained considerable expertise in building conservation work since the practice was established. We have been engaged as structural/conservation engineers on a range of protected structures and historic buildings including churches, presbyteries, public buildings and private homes and properties. We have developed a clear understanding of the particular engineering philosophy required in dealing with historic or protected structures.

The principle of minimum intervention guides our involvement in historic buildings. Carrying out sufficiently detailed assessment of the building, both qualitative and numerical is the key to achieving the most appropriate level of repair, replacement or rehabilitation for a building. We have a successful track record in the preservation of historic buildings whether to prolong the life of the building to continue to serve its original purpose or in renewal of the building to ensure it has a sustainable future.

Recent project undertaken include The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, St Finians Church, Clonard, St Agnes Church, Coralstown, Mullingar, Duleek Parochial House, Broomfield Parochial House, Castleblayney, Donore Parish Church and Parochial House, Donore, Co Meath and Castleblayney Courthouse.
