Project: Extension and Refurbishment of House at Highfield Road, Rathgar, Dublin

This project involved a remodelling of the original house including the construction of a basement around 2 sides of the house, a single storey extension over the basement to the rear and a three storey over basement portion to the side. The original roof structure, which was in poor condition structurally, was replaced. Particular features of the project were the significant temporary works required to support the existing house and to retain the boundaries and buildings on the neighbouring sites during the excavation and construction of the basement. The elevated ground water level required that the basement be anchored to prevent floatation.
